Fashion Colour Spectrum (By skintone)

Through looking at various blogs and social media such as Pinterest and Tumblr, I've noticed some trends in how people style clothing to flatter their unique skintones. This is a spectrum of some of the most popular colours I've seen used.

Light-Fair Skin:

Light-bright colours that aren’t similar to the skin tone of the person are perfect for light skin tones because they don’t wash out the pale skin as colours similar to the skin tone would. For example, light pink with a light pink skin tone would be less flattering than a bright coral.

Tan-Olive Skin

People with more tanned skin look great in lighter shades closer to neon colours that would wash out paler skinned people.

Olive-Dark skin:

Rich jewel tones look amazing on people with dark skin tones. The brighter colours might be overpowering on someone very pale, but they look very nice on people with olive-dark skin.
